WHY are vulnerable people joining a decentralized system?
For the same reason wheelchair users leave the house after dark
Anyway, “public” doesn’t mean “hate speech friendly.”
My dim understanding is that “the admins” is one guy with a day job.
I’ll necro a years-old thread without blinking. Never bothers me when somebody does it to a comment of mine, though I usually no longer have any idea what I was talking about.
I see no problem. Everyone assumes Skynet is a murderbot because any pragmatism we can imagine for the robots would demand we be removed. What if there’s another pragmatic solution, i.e. the xkcd punchline? Just . . . rewire people to be nice.
Even the robots in The Matrix claim to have tried to give us a utopia, but it made our minds melt down.
I’ve been skeptical about every reddit comment I’ve replied to since the '14 midterms, that felt like the year the bot accounts really became a significant chunk of reddit’s numbers. It’s been horrible since the '16 general election; I’m really not heartbroken to have left.
Sweet, this comment should be pinned
I see they downvoted my Jeff Goldblum triceratops poop gif too 😔
you don’t want to do this, you’re just gonna get your feelings hurt
The Feeling-Hurter: this meme
Hey buddy, do you need a Tylenol or anything?
Hm, that might feel like pay to play
I think you may be misunderstanding me, edit: or I may be misunderstanding you, but if you’re actually that juiced up about the Beehaw mods then I won’t get in your way :)
Oh? No surprise I guess. But I took that to be their meaning, yeah lol.
I was nearing the end of my rope that day with reddit evacuees, 48 hours into their acquaintance with Lemmy and dropping reactionary snark at the Beehaw thing instead of listening and learning about what the Fediverse is.
The Beehaw threads felt like they disproportionately full of day-old accounts saying “good riddance,” and I was annoyed.
@Wit changed my mind with their comment. I wasn’t thinking about it from the users’ side.
Now, I was unaware that this was a unilateral decision, without input from their users, which renders my comment sorta moot.
You’ve changed my mind. Δ
I’m sour about losing Sync, but have you tried Jerboa? It’s absolutely not as feature-complete yet as any of the big 3rd party reddit clients were, but it feels totally familiar and I’ve been happy using it so far.
in 2017 and went with the new redesign
Christ, was it that long ago? I am old.
The student loan industry is built on this exception, so eliminating it will be a big mountain to climb
