It might depend on which part of the world they live in. In the West? Not so much. But in a third world country? It might very well be a day’s work wage.

If your work is bleeding edge enough, even ChatGPT won’t be of help since it’s not in their training dataset.
Ohh I had a similar experience with a quite big open source project (~10k stars on GitHub). Posted an issue, it’s obscure enough even the lead maintainer comes in to help and still got stuck unable to fix the issue.
If you’re competent, a SM is invaluable, however it’s one of the easiest to replace role. As an example, almost all of the engineers in my division has a PSM I certification. So all the SM do is just facilitate meetings. When we started we have around 5 SMs but currently only have 1 because all of the SMs are redundant since the team already know how scrum works.
I asked Bard whether they could make a bastardization of rogersimon10 post and it made this:
Ah, the 2012 Fiesta EcoBoost. A pocket rocket some called it, a ticking time bomb I preferred. Owned one myself, sunshine yellow with a dent shaped like a screaming Muppet (courtesy of a rogue shopping cart). Let me tell you, that car was less a vehicle and more a high-octane game of Russian roulette with pistons.
Every morning was a gamble. Would she purr to life like a hungover kitten, or unleash a symphony of coughs, bangs, and the ominous "Check Engine" light disco? One day, the radio spontaneously switched to polka, which, let's be honest, is only two steps away from a thermonuclear detonation in a Fiesta's internal combustion fiesta.
Speaking of fiestas, the fuel gauge was as reliable as a politician's promise. One minute it was brimming, the next it was flashing "Bone Dry, Mate," even if I'd just filled it. Learned to carry a jerrycan like a Prohibition-era bootlegger, never knowing when the engine's thirst would strike.
But oh, the things that little lemon could do! On a good day, that turbocharged engine was like a caffeinated hummingbird on steroids. Weaving through traffic, leaving Audis in the dust (until their turbos spooled up, of course). Handling? Razor sharp, unless you hit a pebble, then it was suddenly a drunken ballerina on roller skates.
Comfort? Ha! The seats were about as plush as a park bench, and the suspension was tuned for "Feel Every Pebble in the County." But hey, it kept you awake, which was essential considering the constant fear of spontaneous combustion.
In the end, I sold the Fiesta to a circus clown for a fistful of juggling pins and a lifetime supply of those tiny, uncomfortable hats. He seemed thrilled, probably because the polka radio was a bonus feature for him.
So, would I recommend a 2012 Fiesta EcoBoost? Only if you enjoy existential dread, questionable fuel efficiency, and the thrill of living life on the edge (of a breakdown). Otherwise, stick to something safer, like a heavily sedated hamster. You'll thank me later.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a date with a tow truck and a very suspicious mechanic who keeps asking about "jumper cables." Wish me luck.
P.S. Don't forget the jumper cables. Seriously. You'll thank me later.
I don’t want the money I donated to be used for the benefit of the MIC.
It’s bad if you don’t have a design system. If you have a design system it’s :chef’s kiss:
I’m using Fold 5 and can tell a difference in scrolling performance between Samsung Internet and Firefox. There are also some issues regarding how the UI handles transition between folded to unfolded and vice versa.
This is a known issue
I tried doing this the other day. Due to my current GPU (3080) it was too many hoops to jump through just to play a game. I don’t want to spend time configuring my setup to make the game run in the little amount of free time that I have ಥ‿ಥ
Although the system is very efficient I’ve decided to move my side project to be on Linux, making my Windows install to be purely for gaming. I was using WSL previously with a Mac for my day job.
Maybe if I switched to an AMD GPU I’ll do a proper Linux gaming setup.
TBH compared to the old versioning system people used to use like SVN and Mercurial. Git is a godsend. Just taking your time in learning and not using a GUI client works wonders in learning how it works. Especially when all the GUI clients are basically a collection of commands being executed so if you fuck things up on CLI you know what happened vs using GUI.
The thing with LLMs is that they learn from existing tech and use cases. My work is niche enough that LLMs are unable to make meaningful contributions on the code side. However your assessment is true where an overzealous junior dev can make a lot of shit stuff faster because they don’t really understand the code the LLM spits out.
As for myself, I mostly use it to help breakdown requirements so I can better work thru it, help me think up edge cases for tests, and be an interactive rubber duck when debugging an issue.
Here is a lesson in creative writing. First rule: Do not use semicolons. They are transvestite hermaphrodites representing absolutely nothing. All they do is show you’ve been to college.
Don’t forget them cosmic rays flipping bits in your memory.
Nvme PCIe 4 SSDs are quite fast now tho, you can get between DDR1 and DDR2 speeds from a modern SSDs. This is why Apple are using their SSDs as swap quite aggressively. I’m using a MacBook Pro with 16 GBs of RAM and my swap usage regularly goes past 20 GBs and I didn’t experience any slowdown during work.
I use Blokada 5 on my phone to block ads and trackers and the fucking banking app stops working if I have it turned on. FFS you already have my money why did you guys need to harvest more of my data (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻)
Shittyness of Unity CEO aside, I think i haven’t seen the term shitlord used in years. You just gave me flashback to early 10s internet.
The argument is better if the app is written with Ionic.
This kind of thing reminds me of the early 2010s /r/atheism. There’s definitely some meaningful discussion to be had, but it quickly got overwhelmed by edgy teenagers and culminated in the infamous “In this moment I am euphoric”" quote and things simmered down.
I expect there’s going to be some batshit insane development in this space that’ll make things calmer. However looking at the state of the world it might be WW3 making things calmer because most of the edgy teenagers will get drafted /s.
It’s all offset by the small screen. Playing Ghost of Tsushima on low-medium graphics coupled with frame gen is chef’s kiss on a handheld.
