thats why effort (github contribution) should be focused on lemmy web first. then when site is solid u can build apps on top of it, and u wouldnt need to think much of features later since web is already the inspiration

yea use the matrix chat and ping the admin (the dude) https://matrix.to/#/#sh.itjust.works:matrix.org. he already banned one porfile minutes ago.
just pinged the dude on matrix
instance admins, mods and the devs are the true heroes of this place. build it and they ll come. hope quality users join in the long run.
captcha and motivation paragraph while signing up should filter bots. and duplicate communities are just natural: if an instance seems to be struggling in hosting communities, it should be natural to create a community of the same content in another freed up instance, just to distrbute the bulk of the load. they could reconsolidate later if an instance is capable enough. i saw earlier someone complaining about duplicate communities (with no duplicate content): some people are just plain whiners.
but some users dont want a good community 😬

the enshittification has begun
defedrate until mods catch up with the task of cleaning rancid human waste, then refederate again, no problem. things shouldn’t be rushed. take the ukraine war for exemple, the enemy is slowly but surely weakend to its death. also if an instance gets to be defederated, their user base have to be aware that there are trolls among them, and that they need to learn manners and behave, while instance admin/mods have to block sign ups and ban the culprit usernames. once the sanitation work is complete, they could reach out to the instance that got defederated from them so they could refederate, and from then on its a matter of credibility and trust. if an instance admin isnt serious about cleaning his intance he could stay locked out to oblivion and the unfortunate users could blame their instance admin for its demise and not making their time spent there worthwile… and from then on it is just survival of the fittest: whoever get to maintain his instance will rack up a healthy userbase.
tbh the quality of posts here are in a league of their own. 4 years ago i used to browse reddit and had to filter almost all subs to find some meaningful content. idk why people here are hyped over lemmy’s user growth. if the sum of major lemmy instance users add to 1 million, we should probably limit singing up to the next 9 million or something. reddit users count as much as 400 million. the 390 million left should stay there or something.
yea so much divide between lemmy and kbin. hope things get worked out soon
yea. instances admins should have open communication with each other about what is bothering one another and take action for the good of the majority. dont fall for the ‘divide and conquer’ plan
try a vpn. i struggled the same way when i tried to post something. the thing kept scrolling. (i tried proton vpn app using a free server)
yea instance handling new users and browsing loads like a champ. no outage, no throtlling…so far
