Yes, thank you, mr parrot.
Yes, thank you, mr parrot.
You’ve only made the case to implement authorized fetch on lemmy. Mastodon did it, Pixelfed did it. No reason why lemmy cannot do it.
edit:
To be clear, I don’t give a rat’s ass what lemmy instance admins do in this matter. Threads interaction is more compatible with mastodon and pixelfed anyway. I just think the chicken little act is ridiculous when bad actors of concern are definitely already here. You’re not stopping anything from coming in. This place isn’t untainted like freshly fallen snow. It’s a pool that gets peed in on a regular basis.
And that’s why you can personally block it like any other instance in your settings. It’s no different than blocking a lemmy instance that also harbors those exact same kind of people.
Oh I don’t plan to switch either anytime soon, just making it known as a lightweight option that gets around the restrictions. I haven’t used Win11 beyond installing Tiny11 in a VM, so I’m entirely ignorant regarding any pros or cons about practical use of it.
edit: should add that there’s also a Tiny10, but for me the most recent one is stuck not installing some updates in the VM, still trying to work that out.
Good grief, I hadn’t heard about this kind of problem yet. Increasing glad my laptop is too old for it and my Windows volume is still on 10.
edit: though I should add that if it becomes necessary to update to 11, that Tiny11 doesn’t require TPM and has problematic things stripped out, and in a VM it seems to be updating properly without issues.
That’s why I said traditional customers, who, at least for the moment, also aren’t savvy enough for linux.
Doubt it, too many jaded people who would still pay up just to not leave what’s familiar. Maybe 2028.
This will go over great with traditional customers who cannot update to 11 because their computer doesn’t have TPM. (edit: to be clear, meaning they’ll be annoyed AF.)
snort
uh… no
I mean, it could be. Have the popcorn ready just in case!
“X” as a dating app sounds like converting from a pornhub to an escort service.
Having to swipe left on family members would make it a little different and weird.
Nope, somehow all of that potential abuse is still free.
It was already curated pre-Musk, and idgaf about whether or not you or anyone else on this platform has an issue with me still using it to keep up with positive things in spite of him. Lemmy is ok, possibly even fine, but it actually is severely lacking in certain kinds of content, while also having it’s share of negative assholes with their own negative asshole messages.
tbh it’s not that bad for me. Between using a private account, having my feeds tuned, and using autoblockers for magats and crypto shills, I don’t get ads or much of the crazy and/or aggravating shit. I have a feed mostly of art, photography, nature, history, generally interesting stuff and cute animals. If I want politics, I have a list for that.

The idea I would have to put clothes on to use Twitter is disorienting.
What do you mean “about to” and “again”?
