If you want to be in control of the server and bridges yourself, yes - you’d have to do that.
If not, you can just use a service like beeper
Yes, but you can use the federated app and bridge whatsapp into it. It’s a good solution :)

Can you cite any examples of weird behavior centered around its admin? I don’t read Tildes enough to have noticed it, I guess.
That e-mail isn’t from Mastodon, it’s from SDF.org. It relates to their Mastodon instance - and Mastodon in general - but it’s specifically an update relating to the service they offer.
Might want to check to see if you have an account there.
Doesn’t that just put the onus on blocking communities onto the individual user? If that’s the case, then why bother joining a community like Beehaw - which is marked as a Safe Space for folk?
Personally, I feel it’s within their rights to block communities with open signup rules, at least until better moderation tools are present.
Been a Kagi user for a while - so happy they added this lens. Such a fantastic search engine. I’m really happy they - for some odd reason - see my demographic (as a Lemmy user) valuable.
