I’d check if undetermined is still enabled, as many people don’t select a language when posting and if you’ve deselected it, you won’t be able to see posts that don’t have a chosen language

Lemmy.world is currently lagging behind quite significantly because so many people are using that instance, it may be something to do with that
I pretty much thought they were an American/continental Europe/Asia thing, I hadn’t really heard of them being a risk in the UK prior to seeing it on my GF. I only thought they were a risk in areas with high deer populations, which I don’t exactly have in my back garden.
I can believe this, the only time I’ve seen a tick on a human was after my gf had been sat in the garden, in long grass in a synthetic dressing gown.
I remember the visceral horror and confusion of me climbing into bed, patting her butt and feeling what felt like a huge mole on her ass that I had never seen before, then seeing this odd grey lump on her ass.
We’re now rather attentive at performing tick checks on each other.
Try out liftoff, so far I’ve found it to be much more reliable and logical than Jerboa, I believe it’s based on boost for Reddit, but I have no idea; I came from Reddit if Fun
Try liftoff, as far as I can tell the accounts are kept separate, with the option of having a combined feed (which tells you which instances the post your viewing is being served from) or a separate feed for each instance you’re on
Obligatory European recommendation for a clipper lighter; the unparalleled joint smoking lighter.
You can refill them, you can replace the flint, you can take the strike wheel out and use it as a pokey.
The base of the lighter is a perfect tamper for a bowl, iirc it works better to light bongs also (less likely to burn your fingers compared to a bic)
There are constantly new designs for them, you can get metal sleeves for them.
Me and a friend have got a thing going where 8 years ago he accidentally pocketed one that I’d found, and it’s been in common use since, obviously having had the flint replaced and the gas refilled.
Except it isn’t a stretch to suggest that there ought to be a mechanism in which a post will be shadow deleted if it receives a high percentage of downvotes and multiple reports of keywords like CP/CSAM etc within a short space of time. This would then rely on an admin either reapproving (if it wasn’t) or deleting the material permanently, but would make it safer for end users.
Heck, have it so that if someone triggers this mechanism, their account is shadow banned until the admin can take action so they can’t spam post to other communities/instances.
