Some of it does. But currently a lot of it doesn’t because they can rely on the google funding. You can also donate volunteering time to Mozilla projects you want to support like Firefox or Thunderbird
Alt account of @Cube6392@beehaw.org for looking at stuff Beehaw defederated

Seen by who? I’d never even heard of them and I’ve been on mastodon for ages
I think here on the threadiverse (Lemmy and kbin) is the best of the fediverse for this
I have noticed a trend within myself, similar to out of state plates, that once I notice one rude user from an instance I spend a few days seeing other users from that instance being rude and goings “figures”
never mind I encounter many perfectly pleasant users from that instance
Its one of the best run instances in the federation tbh. And it has a clear purpose of scope which means it doesn’t get as overwhelmed as a general purpose instance
A lot of NSFL stuff not tagged, a lot of blatantly transphobic and homophobic stuff meant to upset beehaw users since it’s designed to be a diverse and welcoming space. Definitively not “lemmy.world and sh.itjust.works users were posting a lot of low effort memes” and much more “a small subset of lemmy.world and sh.itjust.works users are gaming the open sign ups to make the lives of our users worse”
What are you talking about? The context is the community the post is posted into. The federated experience is that you explore any posts, threads, or communities from any instance. If I have a community called !tabletopnews@ttrpg.net, do you want me to post “New table-top news!” in every single post title just to make it clear? This post was posted to a community for discussing sh.itjust.works. If your app isn’t showing you that information, that’s a bug, not an issue with posters. Imagine if every post didn’t show what community it was from, what poster posted it, or what it was in response to, but only if you used a particular app. Would you get huffy at other users for not copy and pasting every comment they were replying to into their own comment because you needed to ask for the context and provenance from every user directly? I’m sorry if the people in the community for discussing sh.itjust.works are a little annoyed that there’s a huge controversy at a large number of users from one particular instance not knowing it wsa for discussing sh.itjust.works because kbin doesn’t show what communities posts come from. But it’s a very active community, and putting “In regards to sh.itjust.works:” in every title would be like if you wanted to required every post to !news@lemmy.world be labeld “[News]”
Who pooped in your éclair?
that’s the argument for that asking people posting to the community about sh.itjust.works to state specifically that they are talking about sh.itjust.works is silly. why is your convenience in regards to an idiosynchrocy with your chosen platform more important than everyone elses community experience?
it’s crazy how annoyed you are about the federated experience while on a federated site. not everyone is going to conform to how you / your instance wants to operate
Its down at the very bottom of this thread sitting at -35 votes and still not removed by a mod. I reported it, but I’m also from a different instance and may or may not have burned a few bridges with the management of this instance on my way out
Also claims rich men north of Richmond, a song FILLED with conservative talking points is a leftwing perspective
Based on the shit spam in this very thread… Not really
This is the community for discussing sh.itjust.works. that’s what this whole ass community is
They posted on the community for discussing the server they’re on. There’s some onus on you to look at what communities someone is posting to

They’re very consistent and predictable in a very good way. I understand the desire to have a more permissive instance at the cost of dealing with some trolls, but I think beehaw does an excellent job of delivering a community that takes the health and safety of the community at large seriously

100%. My point wasn’t that the supreme court and the constitution are global law. Just that if people are gonna make first amendment argments, they need to realize that they’re stupid as hell if they think the first amendment gauruntees they be allowed to say anything anywhere to anyone
The supreme court has also ruled that “the right of the people to peaceably assemble” includes groups telling people they disagree with to leave. Freedom of association includes freedom to not associate
Yeah. The CEO class needs to be eliminated from the upper stratus of society. If you think monetary donations to Mozilla aren’t worth it as a result, I get it, and I’m right there with you. I don’t donate money. But also… In the browser space if money is what you want to donate, it might be the best route.
