Ops is like Hotel California.

I changed every link in my posts, then deleted every post, replaced every comment with excerpts from literature in the public domain, then replaced the modified comments with gibberish before deleting them. Was that enough? No, but still better than allowing Reddit to profit from me without any effort. If they want my shit, they’ll have to pull from archive, and even then it might be a bit of Moby Dick.
I agree with this. I have one that I have kept for the audio. I loaded a 512 Gb card it it and it is perfect. Now i just need to seriously expand my music collection.
Oh, I know. I meant that we had to take courses on older languages as part of the curriculum. That was a funky little college program. The oddest experience for me was taking Python back in the day as the “new thing” then not seeing it again until it absolutely exploded ~10 years ago. That program is also why I ended up playing with Linux so early on. The professors truly seemed to have a passion for emerging technologies while not wanting anyone to forget what came before. Thankfully, no punch cards.
In college back in 1991. Also had to do PASCAL and FORTRAN but thankfully those two were in a single course.
Oh no. The no gifting rule is also in effect. It was his own political campaign.
This basically the premise to Richard Pryor’s movie “Brewster’s Millions” except that one of the rules was that you cannot buy or own anything. At the end of the month you must have spent the money and have nothing to show for it.
The answer is politics. Spend it all on a political campaign.
I expect these clowns to lose most of their market share within two years and get sued to oblivion.
My firm bills by the hour and so far I think we are at 10+ billing hours per consultant wasting time with client tech support trying to get back on our VDIs. Nevermind how much time is being wasted doing the work through work arounds. My guess is that our firm alone will bill for about $100,000 extra this month while having accomplished less than normal. I am sure Crowdstrike’s gift card will fix it though.
I changed my Twitter/X/Xitter logo to this.
Here is a quick step by step set of instructions on how to do it yourself.
Step 1: Logout from Twitter/X/Xitter, uninstall the app, and delete your account.
Step 2: Install Mastodon, select a server that matches your tastes, and created an account.

Preaching to the choir. They hire use to performance tune their app but then their IT staff manges to not notice the most basic things.
We do Grafana + Prometheus for most of our clients but I think that adding Loki into the mix might be necessary. The amount of clients that are missing basic events like “you’ve run out of disk space…two days ago”, is too damn high.
When I made this, I did not expect I’d use it much. Then…Windows 11.
27" 1440p capped at 120hz is my playground. I find myself missing the extra real estate at 1080p.
Note: I do more than gaming on my PC.
I’d start with a 13 month/28 day calendar and planetary time (all clocks set to UTC).
EDIT: And set the date format to YYYY.MM.DD for the entire world. Americans and Europeans can stop arguing. The Japanese got it right.
Sounds like sexual harassment.
The mid-80’s Bronco is just for sentimentality. It was a piece of shit but given that little of the original’s powertrain survives the conversion, I don’t mind. My second option is a Range Rover from the same era. There I would also replace the electronics.
My next car will probably be a 1986 Ford Bronco with an EV conversion and zero network connectivity. Just a hunk of 4x4 steel with a ton (literally) of batteries under the hood.
Eventually, but not today.
So many resources spent on services that are objectively not great. I have yet to see any output from Gemini or ChatGPT that sells me on the service.
