I doubt that very much, lol.
I doubt that very much, lol.
I’ve been on sh.itjust.works since day one of my Lemmy existence, because shit just works.
It also doesn’t overdo it with defeds (beehaw) and isn’t run by tankies (lemmy.ml) or nazis (exploding-heads).
I got accounts on lemm.ee, sh.itjust.works and kbin.social. I had one on .world in the beginning, but the performance wasn’t great. Probably too many users.
So I tried with Undetermined and English, neither works.
I really wish Lemmy did away with these useless language settings, anyway.
My language is set to English
Meanwhile our shit’s fucked up :/
Yeah, the solution is more tools for users to filter content. There’s also been a discussion around general nsfw vs porn, which would also be nice to have as a deeper way to customise the experience on an individual level.
In general, I’m much more in favour of personal ability to filter, sort and categorise other posters, communities and instances, to really make it “your Lemmy”, and less of a focus on making decisions for us on an admin/mod level.
I blocked it the moment I saw it.
I can’t say I’m particularly thrilled about decision making by committee. I’d feel a lot more reassured if I knew the server in good and competent hands, rather than a “mob rules” system of governance. I’ll certainly prepare to move elsewhere if it becomes clear that the instance moves in a direction I’d feel uncomfortable with (such as overmoderation or willy-nilly defederation that’d rob me of content).
The difference is this: I like it here, you don’t. So why would I move elsewhere?
I settled down here, exactly because it only has one blocked instance. The vibes I got when I created my account were “chill place that lets adults curate content themselves”. We’re free-signup and create our own communities, I doubt the admins here will just go ahead and defederate other instances left and right. I wonder, though, why aren’t you on Beehaw? They seem closer to what you’re looking for.
I’d like to decide for myself what I want to see and what not, as an adult.
Why so hostile? Can you explain exactly what makes you so angry?
The man is providing feedback, that’s valuable data for devs. If nobody says anything, nothing will change for the better.
Just post stuff. If someone finds it interesting, they’ll comment on it, and before you know it, you’ll have built a community. I just started one myself, not really stressing myself out over it :)
Yes, both kbin.social and lemm.ee are federated with sh.itjust.works I think it just needs to register once on an instance, which still means it won’t pop up on many others, unless someone specifically searches for it – and why would they do that, if they’re just browsing the community list?
Yeah, I’m sure they’ll smoothen it all out in time. I expect another wave of users come July, and then one more once old.reddit and RES are dead.
I really hope they get this sorted. Fragmented communities would be fine, if one could find all of them in one go.
What exactly is the “truth” in that zero effort meme?
