Probably a webgl problem. I had to use ungoogled chromium to open the page. I think it works on regular firefox too.

If I can figure that out I would definitely do that.
I think it is more important to have a non-commercial tag/license added.
It isn’t loading for me.
Can’t all vpns do this though?
Thanks for this insightful comment. I didn’t see it from that perspective before and I agree that using this sort of algorithm makes it harder for community moderation to happen in any capacity.
We should work towards making algorithms that work for us instead of thinking we can rely on just chronological feeds even as we scale. We are sort of doing this by adding scaled and controversial sort but there I think that there should be something more customizable than what we currently have.
Maybe having the defaults but also having some area where it is possible to define a personal sorting algorithm would be nice.
Is that possible?
Yeah, I just realized I was trying to reinvent the wheel. Whoops.
You know what I agree with you. I should work on my tone more and try to contribute at the same time. Thanks for the feedback.
I like being direct. I don’t have all the answers (no one does) but I think asking people to think about solutions when they offer criticism helps move the conversation forward.
Yeah, maybe there could be a website that helps people find these alternative sites so they don’t need to rely on Amazon as much.
Okay, so what is the solution you are advocating for?
Personally, I am more for voluntary association than increasing government power but I agree that important systems should be under public control.
Okay, so your potential solution is to build a robust and effective reputation/reporting system. I like the idea. There are a few different projects that have to deal with the same problems so maybe we can learn from them. As for logistics I am trying to think about if there is a way to make that system better in a decentralized system.
Ok, you don’t think that decentralizing is the solution. If you consider Amazon and eBay to be a problem what do you think might be a potential solution?
Ok, then what do you think could be a potential solution?
How would you improve the idea?
I still don’t think this solves the problem that you posed on emotions but thank you for at least proposing a solution instead of just pointing out a problem.
Since I don’t see what you have suggested as a problem I don’t think I have much more to add.
Are you advocating that we move back to Reddit? I am not going to do that.
And if you aren’t advocating we move back to Reddit how do you want to solve this perceived problem?
(I am saying perceived because I don’t see it as a problem because with the fediverse you have a choice about where you can be and what rules you have to follow, unlike Reddit. Meaning that there are still consequences if the users decide to leave.)
The original data had 21,000+ features. I used an algorithm to reduce the dimensions to 2 but keep a similar structure (so similar communities are close dissimilar communities are far away).
So the axes don’t really mean anything in particular.
