Is 50kb enough or should I go higher.
Also. Thanks!
You re correct. Chronological is better than algorithm promoting posts with engagement and only posts say are related on top and creating a bubble.
But if we can toggle for both. If we can choose chronological or curated by just clicking a switch, then it would be much better.
Bots.
They support each other, it has begun!
Plus the illegal items being sold. Who would monitor those.
Piracy communities have been defederated just because worlds wants to preempt legal trouble, just in case the moderation there slips up.
What more for physical items, such as illegal drugs and our services. The fediverse might quickly find itself to be a clear net version of the silk road, or a real hotbed of counterfeit items.
I’m okay with that, people generally not inclined to pirate must not visit a pirated sub, by choice or by accident. They may get culture shock and mistake perfectly legal conversations for other things and make a false report.
Those who want to pirate generally knows how to search for communities for piracy. No matter who’s blocking who, they’ll eventually find what they want. The block will act as a filter of some sorts.
Live in someone’s house, then follow their rules. Otherwise buy your own house or find another house.
That’s what I associate lemmy instances with. Anyways I’m glad that we are free to choose where we maintain our accounts. Unlike reddit wher we cannot even move in order to change the environment, cause it’s all under one management.
Liftoff is fantastic for that
Lol, that’s fine by me, coz I’m here living in dbzer0, arrr!
Not everything needs to be mainstream to be great. Sometimes being less known is what makes sites great since you are sure that the user base that is on there are there because of similar reason. Unlike mainstream apps where users trend to be there only because it is hip to be there but don’t care for what the sites actually stands for. Hence the proliferation of garbage material in large mainstream sites.
I’m on pixelfed, and truthfully, the lack of professional grade photos there are what actually made it great for me. I want to see ordinary photos from ordinary people. Taken during their ordinary day to day life.
Yes it is the user who toggles whether their posts are NSFW or not. Clearly OP here is just repeating something they thought they heard and has no experience in using pixelfed.
Please read my other comment.
Yeah you are also correct. Now what we need to figure out is how to convince the majority, given that the proliferation of advertising from corporations and sheer exposure due to mere universal availability of chrome and other corp products is a major roadblock to overcome.
Yeah but that in itself underlines the problem. A large part of people’s time is spent on work. And yes people do tend to use what is familiar.
Think of adobe. They offer students free access to adobe products. Which in turn transfers to a workforce that mainly use their products which in turn bleeds unto nonprofessionals using their products because of the abundance of youtube tutorials by professionals on how to use adobe products.
Our laptop is locked. We cannot just install programs into it and there are regular audits on the content of the laptop so no portable applications also.
Of course on my personal laptop I’ve always used FF since I became aware of it, about the year 2007 or so.
Well, you see, our work environment is optimized to use chrome so there is really no other choice.
I wouldn’t sacrifice my irl income just to tell google to go fuck itself.
There’s a trend of using old point and shoot camera instead of the mobile phone or a mirrorless cams. The older the camera the more prestige you get.
Maybe they’ll use MySpace to post those photos. Haha.
Let’s see. Retro websites being used by gen z to try and see what it felt like during the times of their elders. To get a feel of the nostalgia posts they keep seeing in social media.
Thank you.
