Yeah I agree. I will never be filthy rich but I will also never be very stressed out or risk ending up on the street. It’s a fair deal. :)
The US values company profits over all else. It’s different in Europe because we have legal protections.
I knew someone would see the logical flaw here… :)
I leave at 3 pm on office days to beat traffic. Everyone does that. What is this 5 pm thing he talks about? Must be America…
Cleaner Code.
3 more will do it! :p
I work in that space and I’ve been consulting for many tech companies. It’s always a mess behind the scenes. Many of them don’t have ci/cd or testing environments. It’s kind of funny because the public image is always excellent. :)
Even Amazon and those big tech champions are running devops into the ground. This is public knowledge at this point…
Stock dropped from almost 400 to almost 200. :) One mistake…
Cool. I’m a ordinary white man, not special at all.
You haven’t met most people. :)
Just one small issue with that… I probably don’t live for another 195 years. :)
Kind of hard to return this after 195 years if it fails.
Oh really? Let’s calculate the power usage or billions of devices downloading and serving ads.
Thank you, good explanation. I can see why people get confused since the outcome depends on the subscription length then.
This is me right now, constantly thinking about how to implement a thing I’m working on. Even in bed I wake up and think about it. Lols.
I thought they let you use the version you used when you started subscribing, not then you ended the subscription? This was something a lot of people were upset about. That if you subscribe for a year and stop, you end up with a year old version.
Even worse when you have a bug and you cant stop trying to find it and fix it. I often have the feeling that if I stop now, I lose the entire context of what I’m doing and it’s just so hard to get started again the next day.
I prefer to dig in until I find it, even when tired and hungry.
Thanks, didn’t think about that.
Maybe they can make torpedoes using the same tech…
I think because we feel that there is no real purpose to being alive, we need entertainment and distractions.
I often wish we had a star trek society where people would work on things that benefitted society in some way, instead of for money. It would have much more meaning because your talents would benefit other people, not corporations.
Someone who likes to draw would just draw and become appriciated for having great art, much like open source works today. Or if you enjoy making beautiful furniture, or robots.
What is destroying us is that we all work for being rewarded by money, not for appriciation from our peers. For me personally, the appriciation i get for working on open source projects is enough to keep me going and being happy with the work.
Some people say that most people would do nothing if they didn’t have to work. I think they would want to do something. Because almost everyone would want to feel they have a purpose besides just existing. That is why we feel empty now at most jobs.
