The ISA may be open but I’m pretty sure the microarchitecture will be totally proprietary. Even with a kick ass microarchitecture they may still struggle if they can’t use the latest process nodes to actually manufacture the chips.
Having said that I suspect the main challenge RISCV is going to face is the software ecosystem. That stuff can take a decade to build and requires a degrees of cooperation between all the companies building chips.
This seems like an excellent idea and hopefully provides a model for other media outlets to follow.
Most open source developers don’t want to be messing about with non-profit admin tasks. This is why umbrella organisations like the Software Freedom Conservancy exist.
I wasn’t personally using C++, I was using relatively modern C which has had an homegrown object system added to it.
Is this what people who haven’t been introduced to #magit use?
This is why I leave a couple of hours break between coding and going to bed. If I don’t I may well sleep but my dreams are full of repeating code that I don’t wake up rested. Any “insights” from the dreams are usually wrong as well ☹️
I certainly don’t enjoy having to update my mail server configuration every couple of years. But once done it does make a huge difference to what gets through. I do worry there might be tweaks to make for my patch sending workflow.
I’m fairly sure connecting over TLS was the default last time I set up my server. But of course that only protects it from people snooping on the wires.
How do creators monetise on peertube?
And of all the content delivery networks they are one of the more equitable ones in terms of monetisation (I’m looking at you TikTok). I’m sure creators get more income per view on platforms like Nebula but it’s hard to get the scale of reach of YouTube.
Of course I hate ads, but I pay my Premium fee to avoid them safe in the knowledge creators get a bigger slice of revenue per premium supported view vs ad supported. I also wouldn’t give my kids access to YouTube without something to stop the ads.
I’m all for alternative distribution channels but for creators to get paid they will need to run ads, more brand integrations or have some sort of subscription setup. Most people can only avoid to sponsor a small proportion of the content they enjoy.
Hmm don’t know why the image gets clipped. Is today a Mastodon or Lemmy issue?
