Nah I’m thinking of phones in this scenario. That said, both benefit from having user replaceable batteries.

I wouldn’t trade my wireless stuff for wired ones at this point. Wireless earbuds have gotten so good that dealing with a wire would be a downgrade in most cases. When I work with mixing I always use my monitors with a wire, for obvious reasons.

Also as an aside; any company that claims to do anything “green” is profiteering off of greenwashing. Of course making stuff environmentally friendly would become trendy in the cringe corpo world. I think the most egregious example is Apple’s autumn 2023 iPhone event. Just thinking back on it is making me cringe.

The “greenest” product is the one that is never made to begin with.

I think that’s an issue of semantics. If someone needs their device to last all day and it doesn’t anymore, then it is effectively bricked. Could one find a workaround to the issue? Oh probably, something as simple as lugging around a battery bank should do the trick, but ultimately users being able to just swap the battery in their device themselves isn’t a big ask. It gives a modicum of ownership back to the person who actually bought the device.

It’s no different from GPT knowing the plot of Aliens or who played the main role in Matilda.

So either Germany has like 30 climate protesters, or these particular protesters are thought to be up to something and thus detained ahead of time to prevent them from causing damage either to people or property.

1. The legality of this is being disputed and,
2. The decision to detain these people is labelled as controversial by the article

You can bet your arsehole that there’ll be people protesting at the event, and protesting hasn’t magically been made illegal.

It’s absolutely better to let people be free and do whatever they want, than to apprehend them ahead of time when they’re suspected of planning to carry out a crime.

It’s funny how he’s playing this out to be about third party apps like Apollo. Like yeah, that’s what the community cares about, but the reason they’re making the changes is because he’s fucking anal about OpenAI and other companies finding such success with products they have built using data scraped via the Reddit API.

He wants some of that money, not the comparatively tiny amount that Christian got from Apollo.

He also doesn’t seem to get that people root for an underdog. Had he been more serious about how they are upset that companies use their API to build massive tools that they can sublicense to other companies, like Microsoft, and make lots of money, people might agree with that.

What he’s framing it as though, is a big company like Reddit vs small indie app developers, like Christian Selig. Guess who the underdog is in that scenario, Hm?
